Does anyone have any first experence of moon blindness (Equine Recurrent Uveitis)?

My horse has had eye swellings in the past which were put down to flies irritating the eye so he wore a fly mask. Now his eyes have become swollen even with the the fly mask on suggesting it is no longer the flies that are doing it. The vet has stitched his eye lashes out the way (as when the eye swells they invert and cause more irritation and prevent the eye from recovering). Does anyone have any information on moon blindness as if it gets any worse it could cause blindness.
