Can i make my cockerel less aggressive?

my bantam cockerel is really aggressive, he's bit me a few times when i've collected the eggs. when he got out once he chased me round the garden! he lives with his partner (she is broody at the moment and separate from him) along with 2 normal hens. i would like to let him in the garden but he would chase the kids! is there anything i can do?
